Doorknocking….it’s my newest conquest. As a new real estate agent it is important for me to put my name out there and let people know that I exist. I have signed up to sell myself to people, in a completely legal way.
Door knocking is just what it sounds like, knocking on someones door and trying to sell them on hiring me. I have decided that instead of walking into a completely foreign neighborhood, I would start with my neighbors. It gets my nerves going just a little less. Still I am horrified of walking up to someones house and just knocking on the door.
Worst case scenario:
Me:(business card in hand) hello my name is Jessica Lively, I recently received my real estate license…
Homeowner: (door slam)
SCARY!!! Sure I used to sell girl scout cookies to my neighbors like most other little girls, but then when someone was saying no, it was to the cookies not to me. I figure my neighbors, most of who I have at least met, are less likely to slam a door in my face. So it begins, as I try to work out what to say and how to convince someone to hire me. I’ll let you know how everything goes after my first day.
